Head down the path until you see a demolished structure next to a clearing filled with bodies. Continue killing the enemies until your objective is completed and Proceed to Extraction Point becomes the objective. Then shoot the enemies down the hill until you feel it is safe enough to sprint to the next cover, eventually moving to the small nest with the MG. Using the rocks on the left for cover, shoot at the tower's spotlight. Then proceed down the path until your objective updates to Rescue Second Squad. Fend off the few kamikaze enemies from a distance as they won't shoot at you. Wait for one of your men to check out the temple and thereby trigger the ambush. Proceed up the hill until your squad stops and crouches. Upon killing the last enemy, you'll complete the first objective and now have to Regroup with Second Squad. Take your time and kill the remaining enemies. At this point, there should only be a few enemies left. Upon exiting the building stay to the left to get back into the rest of the fight. If you prefer a full-auto gun to a single shot go ahead and trade your M1 for the Thompson since there is plenty of ammo. I don't believe you can save your soldier and it makes no difference so just quickly dispose of the enemies so they don't kill you from behind. In the round building, there are two enemies and one of your soldiers. Once eliminating the gunner, run down the steps and immediately turn around. There will be an MG nest across the clearing, using your M1 kill the gunner so you can proceed through the area. Head into the room, and go towards the window. Don't worry about him, no need to waste the ammo. This time however it's an enemy soldier being killed by Cpl. Once you kill the enemies you can proceed forward until another set of doors will fly open. As soon as you save the private, get behind the cover directly past him, as this event will spawn the next wave of enemies attacking you.
